New Halo Comic Starring Master Chief Announced by Microsoft

Microsoft has announced a new Halo three-part comic book miniseries. It will focus on the exploits of Master Chief during the events of the Covenant War.

According to the official description on Halo Waypoint, Halo: Collateral Damage “follows the Master Chief and Blue Team as they are deployed by the UNSC to an unstable colony world. Their mission: to terminate the Covenant’s efforts to uncover something ancient and powerful beneath the planet’s surface. However, as the mission takes a turn for the unexpected, the Spartan-II strike team realizes that the stakes of their mission are higher than they imagined, and they’ll have to rely on each other and a small group of human rebels to survive.”

The new Halo comic is being written by Alex Irvine, who is best known for previously writing Halo: Rise of Atriox #4, Iron Man: The Rapture and Dark Sun, which is a Dungeons and Dragons comic. He will be joined by artist Dave Crosland, colorist Leonard O’Grady, letterer Simon Rowland, and cover artist Zak Hartong.

Last month, current Halo developer 343 Industries published a blog post on what was to come for Halo: The Master Chief Collection as well as the planned development structure for Halo 6. The developer stated that there are separate teams working on the Master Chief Collection and Halo 6, each with their own resources.

In other related news, the company also recently reached out to Halo players to on the Halo Waypoint forums, seeking feedback on what they could to improve Halo: The Master Chief Collection, with replies pointing to requests for a UI overhaul and ‘join in progress’ option, amongst others.

The first issue of Halo: Collateral Damage will be available for purchase starting from June 6th, 2018. Eager Halo fans can already pre-order their copy at local comic book stores.
