Ubisoft Job Listings Hint at Major Plans for The Division

The Division is two years old, but it looks like it might have plenty of life left in it if some of Ubisoft’s new job listings are any indicator. Ubisoft has posted 25 job openings at Massive Entertainment in Malmo, Sweden, the studio that developed and maintains The Division.

Although the game had a rough start, 2017 was a good year for The Division, and it’s sold over 20 million copies since its release. Massive has continued to add free updates, and there have been three expansions for the game so far. However, it’s been over a year since any new story content was added to the game, a fact that might be changing soon.

Among the job listings on Ubisoft’s careers page are open positions for a narrative designer, senior level artist, senior concept artist, technical game designer, and associate producer. These positions indicate that Massive is gearing up for at least some new missions and story content, especially given that part of the descriptions for each role is “expanding the world of The Division,” and helping “create the best open world RPG experience ever.”

It’s unknown right now whether or not this influx of jobs will be to support The Division in the form of free content, expansions, or if they’re being hired to work on a sequel. Perhaps Ubisoft is taking a lesson from Bungie’s mistakes and will continue to support The Division in as a “games as a service” platform. In that case, we might see the introduction of a new season pass for new content.

For now, there are still tons of people playing The Division, and it’s definitely in a better state than it was when it launched. Regardless of whether the current game gets an update or Ubisoft decides to opt for a sequel, it gives Destiny 2 a run for its money and is worth checking out if you’re looking for a new MMO shooter to play.
