Splinter Cell VR Ghost Recon Frontline Canceled

Ubisoft Cancels Splinter Cell VR, Ghost Recon Frontline, and Two Unannounced Games

Ubisoft has canceled four games — Splinter Cell VR, Ghost Recon Frontline, and two games that the company had not announced. Ubisoft did not give any reasons for the cancelation, although the lukewarm player reception of the Ghost Recon battle royale game is likely to be one of the main reasons for this.

Ubisoft canceled more games including Splinter Cell VR

Ghost Recon Frontline

Ubisoft did not offer many excuses for the cancellation of the four games, apart from they would be placing more focus on their “biggest development opportunities” and that the company had “reduced pipeline assumptions” for next year to take into account the “uncertainty of the economic environment”. In other words, none of the four games, of which Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline were the only two specifically named, were expected to perform well so they’ve now been canceled.

Ghost Recon Frontline was a free-to-play, first-person PvP shooter that was to offer a new take on the battle royale franchise. The reveal trailer was heavily criticized and a closed test was postponed, ultimately never going ahead. Rumors then spread earlier this year that the game was getting a reboot, but it seems like that wasn’t good enough for Ubisoft to feel like the game had a future. As for Splinter Cell VR, very little had been said about the game aside from that it would be launching exclusively on Oculus VR, which narrowed down its marketing potential. Nothing more was said about the identity of the other two titles so we will forever be left to wonder what they were.

In other news, Netflix has narrowed down the release date for the crime-thriller movie The Good Nurse and we also got a first look at the series. Elsewhere, Muktiversus is confusing players who can only find the Founder’s Packs within the stores and not the free version of the game.
