Multiversus Founders Packs Free

MultiVersus Founder’s Packs Confuse Players: Why Isn’t It Free Yet?

MultiVersus has entered its open beta early access phase this week, but the game’s Founder’s Packs are causing plenty of confusion as to why players can see the premium prices but not the free version of the game. The good news is that the game will become free to play for all but you just need to wait for a little longer.

Why isn’t MultiVersus free at the moment?

The MultiVersus free early access phase is only available for those who took part in the game’s closed alpha phase or those who have gotten codes through Twitch drops. The open beta will become free for all players at 9 am PDT on July 26. Until then anyone who hasn’t got a code for the free early access phase will only see the option to purchase one of three MultiVersus Founder’s Packs — standard, deluxe, or premium — from the game’s store.

The cheapest of these is the standard version which costs $39.99 and includes a Rare banner, 15 character tokens to instantly unlock characters, and 300 Gleamium, the game’s premium currency. The most expensive version, the Premium edition which will set players back $99.99, includes 30 character tokens; three Premium Battle Passes; three Banners of Rare, Epic and Legendary rarity; two Ring-Out effects of Epic and Legendary rarity; a nameplate, and 2,500 Gleamium. While these goodies may suit some, others will be thinking it’s a lot of money to pay when the game will become free-to-play in just six days’ time.

The good news is that the 30 character tokens confirm there are more fighters on the way. Players start the game with four characters and unlock Wonder Woman during the tutorial. This leaves a further 11 characters to unlock at launch and implies there are at least another 19 characters to come as content updates or future premium DLC. The confirmed characters in MultiVersus include:

  • The Iron Giant
  • Taz
  • Velma
  • Arya Stark
  • Batman
  • Bugs Bunny
  • Finn The Human
  • Garnet
  • Harley Quinn
  • Jake The Dog
  • Reindog
  • Shaggy
  • Steven Universe
  • Superman
  • Tom and Jerry
  • Wonderwoman

Several leaks have suggested far more than 19 characters will come as DLC, but neither Player First Games nor WB Games have commented on the leaks. They promise more characters will be revealed soon.

In other news, Xbox introduced Discord Voice Chat into their Insider program today and will roll it out to everyone in the future. Elsewhere, Do Revenge is a new dark comedy movie coming to Netflix.
