Earlier today a Battlefield 2042 Father Winter skin appeared in the latest Battlefield and caught players by surprise as it seemed to be bringing Santa Claus to the game — a wacky themed character skin that the series historically hasn’t gone in for beyond the odd subtle Halloween outfit. This Battlefield 2042 Santa Claus skin was apparently free before it was pulled almost immediately, but fans still aren’t happy about it.
How to get the Battlefield 2042 Father Winter Santa Claus skin
The “Father Winter” Santa Claus skin is currently unavailable in Battlefield 2042 but will likely be made available again properly sometime prior to Christmas, so anytime in the next three weeks. This new Christmas-themed Santa Specialist skin was apparently added to Battlefield 2042 very briefly earlier today, where it was spotted by fans before it was very quickly pulled. Presumably it was meant to be released by EA/Ripple Effect as part of a special event later this month, or at least something they planned to advertise.
The fan reaction to this Santa skin has been a mixture of amusement, indifference, and outright condemnation. According to Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson, these Christmas-themed skins were part of feedback sessions EA conducted back in March and everyone hated them — if true, EA clearly ignored the feedback from the feedback sessions.
Fun fact – These skins where in the March 2021 QA feedback sessions, in which everyone voted them down.
Good to know that those sessions were pointless 🤣

Apart from general criticism about how goofy the skin looks, some fans actually have concerns that the Santa skin in particular will cause problems with the gameplay, since Battlefield 2042 equates the color red with an enemy team. Regardless, expect to see Father Winter appear in Battlefield 2042 again in the next few weeks, unless EA actually listens to criticism this time.
I personally didn't want these skins in the game and they most certainly impact gameplay. The game pretty much hammers in the fact that people with red on them are enemies. And here comes a guy who's back is all red.
