Is there a way to stop getting the Battlefield 2042 “Matchmaking Timeout” error message with any players that are getting the problem constantly? It seems to be constantly teamed with the Battlefield 2042 “Matchmaking Failed” error that seems to have dogged the Battlefield series for years now. It certainly can’t all be down to simple connection problems, so is there a Battlefield 2042 matchmaking error fix to help?
Is there a Battlefield 2042 ‘Matchmaking Timeout’ or ‘Failed’ fix?
To fix the Battlefield 2042 error messages “Matchmaking Timeout” or “Matchmaking Failed”:
- Check to see if the Battlefield 2042 servers are having problems. If problems have been detected, then it’s simply a matter of waiting for the service to come back online.
- Disable crossplay in the settings menu, which is in the bottom-left of the screen on the lobby screen, then go to “general” and “other” then set the crossplay option to “off.” This may have to be done for the two different crossplay settings there. For more details on this process, head to our guide here.
- Make sure Battlefield 2042 is updated to the correct version, then restart the game.
- Restart the system, and if necessary, restart the main internet router.
If these options don’t help then there may be further problems on EA’s side that aren’t showing up on one of the server issues sites, or it’s possible the game may be down for maintenance anyway. In the first instance, try restarting Battlefield 2042 and the system it’s on and see if that does the trick, otherwise it might be a case of waiting for the proper December patch to drop.
