Mirror's Edge 3 No Time

Mirror’s Edge 3 Won’t Happen As DICE Has No Time Due to Battlefield 2042

DICE’s woes with Battlefield 2042 continue onwards, and it seems like the game is taking so much of the developer’s time that they can’t work on any other projects. In a recent interview, EA DICE head Rebecka Coutaz explained the team has no time for any other games, including “more unusual projects” like Mirror’s Edge 3.

The likelihood of ever seeing Mirror’s Edge 3

Battlefield 2042

Mirror’s Edge and Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst were both developed by DICE, but the developer is currently preoccupied with fixing the issues surrounding Battlefield 2042, as well as creating more content for the game. When asked about the possibility of DICE working on any other projects like Mirror’s Edge 3 or Star Wars Battlefront 3, Coutaz told GamesIndustry.biz the studio is “only focusing on Battlefield 2042. There is no time for anything else and this is what we want to do.” While Mirror’s Edge 3 could technically be passed to another EA studio, the likelihood of this happening is fairly slim at the moment. The good news is that EA does not seem to have retired or canceled the Mirror’s Edge IP altogether.

Coutaz said the launch of Battlefield 2042 was “not as expected” for players, the community, and even for the development team. DICE has released several patches since the game’s release in November, each of which is considered “a little, little win.” The introduction of Season One has had good feedback about the map and the other new content. Coutaz made it perfectly clear Battlefield 2042 will not be left to rot, saying “it’s important for us to improve Battlefield 2042 and the experience that we can provide to our players. We owe them that.” She concluded:

“I want the team to be really proud about Battlefield 2042. That is what they are chasing and they have their heart and the passion there. We want to be really, really proud of DICE. We want DICE to be the number one spot for first-person shooter games in Europe, and one of the powerhouses in the world. It’s a fabulous team. We’re going to make magic together.”

In other news, Xbox Game Pass will add five more games throughout the rest of June. Elsewhere, Fall Guys has been having server problems throughout the day thanks to an overwhelming number of players.
