Dark and Darker‘s next playtest 5 is hotly anticipated by fans of the DnD-inspired game, with its new alpha release date being a widely-discussed topic among its players. The game has taken the PvPvE world by storm with its cruel yet rewarding extraction-based gameplay, inspired by D&D and other grimdark, high-fantasy media.
Developer IronMace has just finished up its alpha playtest 4, which saw millions of players take part during the Steam Next Fest, leaving most wondering when the next Dark and Darker playtest 5 will be coming to PC, let alone PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
When is Dark and Darker playtest 5 coming out?
IronMace has always been very forthcoming with playtest scheduling and information in the past, but given that playtest 4 has only just ended as of today, it has got its work cut out on figuring out what to do next, so there’s no official release date for playtest 5 yet. However, we would speculate the next Darker and Darker playtest to happen in mid to late March 2023.
Given that playtest 3 took place between 16 – 26 December 2022, and the one prior having been held about 6 weeks prior, we’d expect another four to six-week gap to allow IronMace to digest the last demo’s data entirely. We’d also expect the next alpha to continue its free-to-play model, at least until it reaches Beta or maybe Early Access status.
