The Dark and Darker silver coin functions as currency in the game as you might expect, but you may be wondering what to do with these coins. This is mainly because silver coins have a bad habit of taking up a lot of space in your inventory, since they tend to be fairly common loot drops from chests and monsters. Fortunately, there are other things you can craft using silver coins, as there are other pieces of equipment that use silver. Here is what you can do with silver coins in Dark and Darker.
How to use Dark and Darker silver coins
Silver coins in Dark and Darker have multiple uses, so here’s a quick breakdown of what you can do with them as far as currency and trading is concerned:
- Convert silver coins into gold coins – If you find the Merchant, you can exchange silver coins for gold coins. The exchange rate has fluctuated over time, but at the time of writing, it’s a stack of 5 silver coins to 1 gold coin.
- Turn silver coins into crafting items – Silver coins can be converted into silver powder and silver ingots, crafting materials that are far more useful for creating weapons. This makes it easier than trying to find silver ore around the map.
- Sell on the marketplace – If you really don’t need silver coins at all, you can also sell them on the in-game marketplace, though the price for them isn’t very high due to the amount of supply.
Since there is no silver coin bag, you may want to consider turning excess silver coins into weapons or gold coins as soon as you can. Otherwise, you may want to save stacks of silver coins in storage since there could be quests or crafting formulas in the future that will require them.
Once you have enough silver powder or silver ingots, a Weaponsmith can turn them into various weapons at better rarities. Before you can do this, though, you will need to finish various quests that this vendor gives you first. At any rate, these silver weapons deal extra damage to undead enemies, which plays to the classical use of silver weapons in Dungeons and Dragons.
While Dark and Darker is still in Steam Early Access, players are also experiencing screen tearing and connection errors, but those can be solved.
