Halo Infinite Ammo Types Which guns use Kinetic, Plasma, Hardlight, and Shock ammo

Halo Infinite Ammo Types: Which guns use Kinetic, Plasma, Hardlight, and Shock ammo?

Halo Infinite has five types of weapon ammo: kinetic, plasma, hardlight, shock. Each of these damage types is strong and weak against certain targets, and some of them can inflict status effects. We’ll list each ammo type and which weapon uses each below.

Halo Infinite Ammo Damage Types List

Each weapon in Halo Infinite falls under a particular ammo type. These can be thought of like elements in an RPG. Each of them is strong against a specific type of target and weak against another. The exception to this is Power Weapons which take on one of the other four damage types and use that ammo.

Halo Infinite Kinetic Ammo Weapons

Halo Infinite Kinetic Ammo Weapons Assault Rifle

  • Strong Against: Unarmored/Lightly-Armored Targets
  • Weak Against: Shields

Kinetic Ammo is good against enemies that don’t have shields. That means a common tactic in multiplayer is to keep a Kinetic Weapon in one slot and a shield-busting one in the other.

Kinetic Weapons List:

  • BR75 (Battle Rifle)
  • CQS48 Bulldog
  • Hydra
  • Mangler
  • MA40 AR (Assault Rifle)
  • M50 Sidekick
  • VK78 Commando

Plasma Ammo Weapons

Halo Infinite Plasma Ammo Weapons Plasma Pistol

  • Strong Against: Shields
  • Weak Against: Armor

Plasma Weapons drain shields quickly but deal reduced damage to armored targets. Overall, these are trickier to use than Kinetic Weapons and have unique handling characteristics. Needler ammo, for example, will explode if a player hits a target with enough of them, which significantly enhances the damage.

Plasma Weapons List:

  • Needler
  • Plasma Pistol
  • Pulse Carbine
  • Ravager
  • Stalker Rifle

Shock Ammo Weapons

Halo Infinite Shock Ammo Weapons Shock Rifle

  • Strong Against: Vehicles
  • Weak Against: Elite Enemies

Shock Weapons are decent against shields but excel at disabling vehicles. Nailing a vehicle with a Shock Weapon will disable it for a short time, allowing players to dispatch it easily.

Shock Weapons List:

  • Disruptor
  • Shock Rifle

Hardlight Ammo Weapons

Halo Infinite Hardlight Ammo Weapons Heatwave

  • Strong Against: All
  • Weak Against: Masses of enemies

Hardlight Weapons are very powerful but can be tricky to use. Ammo for them is also rare, which means it’s easy to run out of bullets at the wrong time.

Hardlight Weapons List

  • Heatwave
  • Sentinel Beam

Power Ammo Weapons

Halo Infinite Power Ammo Weapons Rocket Launcher

  • Strong Against: Varies
  • Weak Against: Varies

Power Weapons are rarer than the other types and typically have low ammo counts and high damage output. These guns can be game-changers but have limitations that prevent them from being overpowered.

Power Weapons List

  • Cindershot
  • Energy Sword
  • Gravity Hammer
  • M41 SPNKR
  • S7 Sniper Rifle
  • Skewer
