Halo Infinite Aiming Feels Weird: How to fix aim lag

Players have been reporting the Halo Infinite “aiming feels weird” complaint since the days of the closed betas, from users of both mouse and keyboard on PC and controller on Xbox consoles. The Halo Infinite aiming lag issue is really annoying, especially as players report that it’s not present in the Halo Master Chief Collection, but what is causing the problem? Is there any way to stop Halo Infinite aiming from feeling wrong?

How to fix Halo Infinite aiming lag issues

To fix Halo Infinite aiming lag on PC players should:

  • Open Nvidia Control panel and Manage 3D settings, then add or find Halo Infinite to Program Settings and set Low Latency Mode to Ultra. Also update Nvidia to the latest graphics drivers with Halo Infinite support.
  • For Radeon users, install the specific Halo Infinite Highlights driver for use with the multiplayer.
  • Setting the minimum FPS to 120 and the maximum to 300, or disabling the minimum/maximum altogether.

The problem where aiming feels weird or off on PC in Halo Infinite seems to be caused by Microsoft’s decision to force borderless fullscreen rather than exclusive fullscreen. The problem is that a small amount of aim assist or lag seems to occur when aiming, which may be only a few pixels but that means that players can struggle to make small adjustments when aiming. Hopefully Microsoft will properly fix the issue with a patch before Halo Infinite officially goes live next month.
