It’s been almost fifteen years since Halo 3 was released, and fans are wondering if the game will get a remaster like its predecessors. While the third entry in the series has aged a lot better than the first two, many are hoping for something to commemorate the end of the original trilogy. We’ll take a look at whether there are any chances of a Halo 3 Anniversary release date below.
Will there ever be a Halo 3 Anniversary release date?
With the release of Halo Infinite, the chances of a Halo 3 Anniversary remaster are almost zero. 343 Industries has stated that it sees Halo Infinite as a platform to build on for the next ten years. As such, we likely won’t see any other Halo games released for the foreseeable future. Instead, story content will probably be added as DLC.
The most likely scenario is that the next Halo Infinite battle pass will be Halo 3-themed. Instead of a Halo 3 Anniversary, we anticipate that 343 Industries will release a MJOLNIR Mark V (A) armor core and have that be the focus of unlocks for the season.
The studio is obviously more concerned with profitability moreso than respecting the material it inherited from Bungie, so expect the “celebration” of Halo 3’s 15th anniversary to be overpriced microtransactions that prey on nostalgia. After Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we doubt we’ll see a meaningful remake of any Halo game again. The next stage in the exploitation of the franchise will be some sort of underwhelming reboot that takes the place of the original when it comes to development and marketing. Maybe we can buy our in-game weapons with real money by that point. We might even be able to pay by the bullet for a fully immersive experience.
So, no, there won’t be a Halo 3 Anniversary.
