Battlefield 5 Returning to Military Theme

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next proper entry in the Battlefield franchise will be a military-themed shooter, much like the prior numbered entries in the series.

Battlefield Hardline, 2015's upcoming spin-off, veers from the traditional experience in favor of a cops vs. criminals theme, which has led many to wonder what sort of future lies ahead for the confirmed 2016 title. According to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, who spoke at the 2014 UBS Global Technology Conference (via GameSpot), Battlefield 5 will be a "fun, new Battlefield" and "will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game." The Electronic Arts exec also teased that they'll have more details to share on this in the future.

Are you hungry for more military-themed shooters, or do you think the genre has reached a saturation point?
