EA and Ripple Effect have announced a Battlefield 2042 Season 1 release date delay to “early summer,” meaning that many expected features and major improvements have been pushed back several months. Fans were already unhappy with the lack of communication and the absence of news about when they should expect to see the Battlefield 2042 scoreboard and other features, but now many are even more upset by this news.
Battlefield 2042 Season 1 delay upsets fans
EA and developer Ripple Effect has announced in a blog post that the previously unknown Battlefield 2042 Season 1 release has been put back all the way to “early summer,” suggesting that online shooter’s first season of content to better engage players probably won’t arrive until around eight months after the game’s release date. Up until then, Ripple Effect is devoting itself to “address feedback and implement extensive fixes” while Battlefield is stuck in the low-content Season 0.
Features that were supposed to drop alongside Season 1 will now come earlier, including the likes of a proper scoreboard, which will likely drop in March, around five months after release. Improvements coming include changes to the maps by “addressing feedback on openness and lack of cover in key areas” and updating the core gameplay, which the team warns “will take time.”
Suffice to say, the majority of fans are not happy with this decision. Some believe that Battlefield 2042 will be abandoned by the time Season 1 finally rolls around due to the lack of content, others are annoyed by the major failings in the game’s development that should’ve meant a proper delay for the entire game rather than a rushed release that many were unhappy with. Regardless, this decision has not gone down well with the community, and time will tell if that community will still be there come early summer.
