Nintendo to Stop Account Sign Ins Through Facebook and Twitter

Nintendo is stopping the ability to link Facebook and Twitter accounts to a Nintendo account, preventing players from being able to sign in using those two options. The My Nintendo Points missions that involve linking the social media accounts will also become unavailable when the option will be discontinued at the end of October.

When will linking Facebook or Twitter be discontinued?

Facebook Twitter

Nintendo account holders will no longer be able to link their Facebook and Twitter accounts from October 25, 2022. From this date, it will no longer be possible to create a new account using Facebook or Twitter logins either. The options to sign in via Google or Apple will remain active, and players can still create a new account using these logins too.

Those who already use Twitter or Facebook to sign in to their Nintendo account may be able to continue to use any devices without needing to sign in again. If players do need to sign in again, they can do so using their Google or Apple account if those are already linked, or by signing into the Nintendo account directly. If no password has been set on the Nintendo account, this can be done by using the Forgot Password option on the sign in screen. Nintendo has provided more detailed instructions for anyone struggling to do this on the Nintendo support pages.

At the moment, there are also missions to earn My Nintendo Points by linking a Nintendo Account to a Facebook or Twitter account. These missions will also disappear on October 25, or at least that’s the plan at the moment. Nintendo has stated “the discontinuation time may be pushed back due to system issues”, and I’m sure they’ll let us know if that’s the case.

In other news, EA and Motive Studio are working on a new Marvel Iron Man game. Elsewhere, the second wave of Xbox Game Pass games for this month is headlined by Deathloop.
