EA has finally verified the existence of a new Iron Man game to be developed by Motive Studio in collaboration with Marvel Games. The Iron Man adaptation will be a single-player, third-person action-adventure that is currently in early development at the Montreal-based studio. The team at Motive Studio will be led by Executive Producer Olivier Proulx, who was the Senior Producer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy at Eidos Montreal. Motive Studio is responsible for Star Wars: Squadrons as well as the Dead Space remake slated to release on January 27, 2023.
EA also confirms additional games with Marvel
Details are currently thin on the new Iron Man game, as no information on the game’s release date, platforms, and full title have been given. But EA does provide a quick description of the narrative:
“…[T]he game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.”
Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games, believes that Motive Studio will be able to develop a game that aims “to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.” Meanwhile, Proulx is encouraged that Marvel is giving the studio “a lot of freedom” and wants the team “to create something fresh.”
While EA promises to provide additional updates on the new Iron Man game as it continues to develop, it confirms that this will be only “the first of several new games” between Marvel and EA. As reported by our sister site PlayStation Lifestyle, this may include a new Black Panther game that’s rumored to be single-player, open-world, and in “very early production” by an ex-Monolith head at a Seattle studio.
