Assassin’s Creed Mirage Finally Announced, Will Appear in Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft has finally revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, confirming multiple rumors and leaks surrounding the game. More than that, it will be the centerpiece for the upcoming Ubisoft Forward presentation, scheduled for September 10 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 9PM CEST. Fans reacting to the news, announced on the official Twitter account for Assassin’s Creed, are rejoicing that the game will actually have an Assassin for a protagonist and will be a return to form after the more open-world Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla.

Fans praise Assassin’s Creed Mirage reveal

The announcement of Assassin’s Creed Mirage isn’t much of a surprise compared to the confirmation, as there have been various reports and leaks detailing the game. This includes the leak earlier today on the DLC for the game, another leak a few days ago that revealed the game’s name (as reported by PlayStation Lifestyle), and news from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.

The image paired with the announcement, of an Assassin in traditional white garb and hood pouncing above a crowd in a Middle Eastern setting, adds evidence that Mirage will indeed be set in Baghdad in the 9th century. As a return to basics, it looks to take strong inspiration from the first Assassin’s Creed. The image doesn’t confirm whether fan-favorite Basim Ibn Ishaq is the protagonist, but we’ll learn whether this is true soon enough at the Ubisoft Forward.

Fans reacting to the tweet are joyful that Ubisoft has listened to their feedback on the direction of the franchise. Despite the high scores for both Odyssey and Valhalla, many in the AC community desire a more traditional take. One of the most-liked tweets to the announcement can’t wait to see if Mirage will actually go “back to basics with no RPG style system.” Another popular tweet writes: “praying that it has actually something to do with Assassins.” So while rumors suggest that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is only meant to be a rest point between Valhalla and the next main game in the franchise, this overwhelmingly positive reaction to Mirage might begin to make Ubisoft rethink its plans.

In other news, Halo Infinite split-screen co-op has been canceled, while Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, and Call of Duty have been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass.
