Read on to find out what the poster reveals about HBO’s next Game of Thrones’ project.

Who’s in the Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon poster?

Game of Thrones has been generating lots of buzz lately as the franchise not only has the House of the Dragon prequel arriving August 21st, but also a Jon Snow-focused sequel reportedly in the works. But the fantasy juggernaut’s latest news involves the former, as HBO has released the series’ official poster, containing the show’s key art. The art work features Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Emma D’Arcy,) who’ll figure prominently in the series based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel. While the Targaryen princess strikes an impressively menacing pose, it’s the massive, orange-eyed dragon staring from behind her that steals the spotlight. Of course, loyal fans of the original Game of Thrones will no doubt get a Daenerys Targaryen/Mother of Dragons vibe from the powerful imagery.

Despite the similarities between Rhaenyra and Daenerys, the pair of Targaryen princesses won’t be crossing paths in House of the Dragon. The prequel is set a full 200 years before the epic, throne-pursuing events of Game of Thrones, so fans should not expect to see any familiar faces from the previous series. HBO’s official synopsis for House of the Dragon is brief, revealing only that it will tell the story of House Targaryen. Based on the previously released teaser trailer, however, viewers can expect the comfortable familiarity of clashing swords, feuding families, and dragons barbequing baddies with fiery breath when they tune in for the prequel’s August 21 premiere. And if this new poster is any indication, it seems those scaly beasts will play an especially significant role in the series.

In other news, Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased the future of the MCU and The Boys Herogasm warning admitted Episode 6 ‘Isn’t Suitable for Any Audience.’
