Game of Thrones‘ fans are already counting the days until the August 21st premiere of highly anticipated prequel series House of the Dragon, but now it seems HBO may also have its sites set on a spin-off series starring Jon Snow. Played by Kit Harington, Snow was one of the fantasy series’ most popular characters, and one of the few to survive Game of Thrones’ final season. Now it sounds like Jon Snow will be back beyond the Wall and on fans’ televisions.
HBO sets Game of Thrones spin-off series starring Jon Snow
According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is not only seriously eyeing a sequel to Game of Thrones, but looking to bring back actor Kit Harington to reprise the iconic role of Jon Snow. Talk of a fresh Game of Thrones series isn’t new or surprising, as the network already has several in the works.
But while HBO has multiple live-action and animated projects based on author George R.R. Martin’s enormously popular fantasy universe in various stages of development, those shows are all prequels to Game of Thrones. A Jon Snow-starring series would be the first sequel, picking up the story of one of the original show’s most adored characters.
When fans last saw Snow, in Game of Throne’s eighth and final season, he had a pretty full plate. He’d killed Daenerys Targaryen, discovered he himself was a Targaryen — with a potential claim to the Iron Throne — and ultimately found himself sentenced to live out his final days beyond the Wall with his Wildling posse. Of course, the character was also murdered in season five before being resurrected the following season. After cheating death, we suppose anything is possible for the character, so why not a fresh start in a brand new series?
In other news, the Venom 3 script was seemingly confirmed by Tom Hardy and Stranger Things Surfer Boy Pizza is selling out at Walmart.
