House of the Dragon Episode 6 Window Scene Leaves Viewers ‘Horrified’

House of the Dragon has had no shortage of controversial or awkward scenes throughout the first half of its debut season, but episode 6’s “window scene” had everybody watching at home feeling uncomfortable.

How House of the Dragon’s window scene ties into Game of Thrones

After a 10-year time jump, the Game of Thrones spin-off introduced viewers to a teenage version of Prince Aegon Targaryen, played by Ty Tennant, and one of his first scenes saw him pleasuring himself in the window of a King’s Landing castle.

Audiences were left bemused, especially when the act was interrupted by none other than his mother, Queen Alicent Hightower. Strangely, it was at this moment that Alicent chose to drive home the point that if Aegon did not prepare himself to challenge his half-sister, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen for the Iron Throne upon their father’s passing, he and his brother may be put to death following her ascension.

One Twitter user said that they were left “horrified” by the “unnecessary” scene, while another said it was “disgusting” and questioned why the young prince had chosen a castle window to relieve himself. Some even pointed out that it may have been the same window that was featured in Game of Thrones, where Cersei Lannister’s son, King Tommen Lannister, jumped to his death. Exactly how this particular narrative choice serves to drive the story forward remains to be seen.

House of the Dragon continues Sundays on HBO and HBO Max. Episode 7 is called “Driftmark”, and will likely see Princess Rhaenyra and her husband Ser Laenor Velaryon, along with their three sons, travel to the titular landmark. Unhappy with the way she has been treated at King’s Landing, Rhaenyra is planning to live at Dragonstone until her duty calls for her to take to the Iron Throne. Of course, with Queen Alicent planning on helping her son usurp his older sister, it’s not going to be quite as simple as Rhaenyra had hoped.

In other news, the first full-length trailer for HBO’s The Last of Us series has been revealed, and a new Gotham Knights trailer reveals PC features like 4K and ray-tracing.
