The latest set of games that are part of the Xbox Free Play Days is available now to try out for free for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass members. Control and Hunting Simulator 2 are both available to try in their entirety from April 14-17 until the Xbox Free Play Days period ends at 11:59 PM PT on April 17. The Elder Scrolls Online has an extended free period and will be available until 7 AM PT on April 26.
How do Xbox Free Play Days work?
During the Free Play Days, all online and offline modes are available from the Control and Hunting Simulator 2 base games. However, no DLC add-ons will be included for the Xbox Free Play weekend. This means the following content will be unavailable:
- Control – The Foundation or AWE
- Hunting Simulator 2 – A Ranger’s Life, Beretta Weapon Pack, Beretta Model 486, or Bear Hunter Pack
The Elder Scrolls Online is slightly different. Players will be confined to the content of the Elder Scrolls Online base game and the Morrowind DLC, but none of the other premium expansions will be available.
Any progress made during the Xbox Free Play Days weekend, including any Achievement unlocks made between April 14-17, will be transferred to the full version of the game whenever you decide to make a purchase. All three games are on sale throughout the Free Play period. Both editions of Control are on sale at 70% off. This leaves the standard edition at $8.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $11.99. Only the Elite Edition of Hunting Simulator 2 is on sale at 50% off, down to $34.99 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Finally, The Elder Scrolls Online is available to play in its entirety on Xbox Game Pass. If you want to own it permanently, the base game is also on sale at 70% off, bringing it down to $5.99. Several add-ons are discounted too. Both versions of Blackwood are on sale at 67% off, leaving the standard edition at $9.89 and the Collector’s Edition at $13.19. A number of Crown Packs are also discounted between 20-40%.
In other news, Bandai Namco job listings have sparked rumors of a Star Fox or Kid Icarus HD remaster for Nintendo Switch. Elsewhere, Dead Island 2 may be getting a re-reveal this summer and could even land on consoles before the end of the year.
