Boulies EP460 Chair Review

Boulies, a company whose office and gaming chairs have been well-reviewed in the past, has introduced the EP460, an ergonomic chair designed to boost comfort and support for long hours at the desk. It’s intended as a step up from their popular EP400 series, but does it actually deliver on those promises? Here’s my review.

Updating the old

Boulies EP460 review

The Boulies EP460 has a comprehensive arsenal of features intended to make the user’s sitting position as comfortable and ergonomically sound as possible. It uses a new hybrid mesh upholstery that’s both soft and breathable, so you stay cool and comfy, which has become extremely beneficial during this warmer season. While traditional upholstery can trap heat and make you sweaty, this mesh allows for airflow, keeping you comfortable.

The chair also has enhanced lumbar support adjustments, something that I’m always looking for as a regular sufferer of back pain. Another big upgrade when it comes to support is the adjustable headrest, which you can angle and fix in place to help reduce neck and shoulder strain.

If it ain’t broke

Boulies EP460 review

The EP460 keeps some popular features from the EP400, like the seat depth adjustment and a built-in footrest, making it easy to switch from working hard to kicking back. Plus, the adjustable armrests and sturdy aluminum wheelbase add to its durability and comfort.

The chair’s biggest win is its adjustability. The 3-level backrest adjustment helps you find the perfect sitting position, striking a balance between comfort and ergonomics. It might take some getting used to if you’ve been lazy with your posture in other chairs, but it’s well worth it.

Almost perfect

Boulies EP460 review

Despite its many features, the Boulies EP460 could use some improvements in some areas. For one, the wheels don’t spin as smoothly as they should, making it a bit of a hassle to move the chair around. This could just be with my sample, but it’s worth noting for those of you who expect to be traveling around on the chair between desks.

Another downside is the limited color options. While the black and grey are nice and professional, offering more vibrant colors could attract a wider audience. Gamers tend to like colors that match their setup and I think Boulies has the opportunity to release a striking, yet ergonomically superior, design that contends with the more traditional “gaming chairs” out there.

Final Verdict

At its current sale price of $299.99 (down from $369.99), the Boulies EP460 offers solid value for those needing a reliable ergonomic chair. It’s a good investment with its mix of comfort and adjustability, although some areas like wheel smoothness and color variety let it down a little. Ultimately, however, it checks all of the boxes when it comes to must-have features for an ergonomic office chair, making it worthy of my recommendation.
