The next week of Xbox Free Play Days has already begun, with Dead Island Definitive Edition and Hunting Simulator 2 available for free this weekend ending on September 25. Both games will be free to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Both games can be downloaded starting now until 11:59 pm PDT this coming Sunday.
Xbox Free Play discounts during promo
As usual, there are typically discounts for games featured in this recurring Xbox promo. So it’s a bit of a surprise that Dead Island Definition Edition will not be getting any deal, staying at $19.99 in the Microsoft Store. On the other hand, the price of Hunting Simulator 2 will be significantly slashed by 60 percent from $49.99 SRP to $19.99. Both games have a lot of content to explore over just the four days over this free weekend play, so this is an opportune time to purchase either game once the promotion is over.
If you haven’t had the chance yet, Dead Island Definitive Edition is a timely addition to Xbox Free Play Days as the much-awaited, oft-delayed Dead Island 2 will finally be arriving on February 3, 2023. Even with the numerous changes made to the sequel over the last decade, the sequel looks to build on the lore established in the original Dead Island. A leaked trailer of the Yager version of the game, featuring Megyn Kelly and a Jack Black impersonator, has a short recap of Dead Island, but playing through the original game is the best way to understand where the zombie pathogen comes from. The Definitive Edition of Dead Island released in May 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One which remasters the original game and includes all of the DLC.
In other news, the success of Trombone Champ on Steam has players call for the game to be ported to other consoles, and She-Hulk Episode 6 has added Mr. Immortal to the MCU.
