Schilling: Amalur Potentially “A Billion Dollar Franchise,” Bleszinski Disagrees

38 Studios founder Curt Schilling recently spoke out on the value of the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, the franchise his studio created before it went bankrupt.

Schilling voiced his opinion on Twitter, saying, "If someone were to buy Amalur, put team back on it, it's a billion dollar franchise, 2 years later and still no ones done what we were doing." Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sold 1.2 million copies, which wasn't enough to keep the lights on at 38 Studios.

Cliff Bleszinski, famed Gears of War creator, replied to Schilling's post, saying, "Curt you can't just throw a bunch of bodies at it and attempt to make WoW and Skyrim. I wouldn't try to pitch the world series." The conversation between the two has since continued, all of which you can read here.

I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and believe the franchise (had budgeting been handled properly) could have evolved into something really special. What do you think? Does Bleszinski have a point? Comment below and let us know.
