While the full Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy music list hasn’t yet been revealed for the upcoming game, Square Enix has confirmed all the GOTG game songs in the trailers and a few other notable inclusions in the final game. While there are some fantastic singers and bands lined up already, players will be interested to note a certain Rick Astley on the Guardians of the Galaxy game song list, suggesting Square Enix will soon let us Rick Roll with a Marvel game.
All confirmed songs in the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy music list
As part of the first Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game trailer and gameplay reveal at the Square Enix E3 Showcase, developer Eidos Montreal used three popular ’80s songs — one main one over the trailer, another a brief snippet over the ship flying, and another playing when Peter Quill activates his special Walkman ability. Here are those songs:
- Bonnie Tyler – Holding Out For A Hero
- Hot Chocolate – Every 1’s A Winner
- Joan Jett – Bad Reputation
Bonnie Tyler was particularly happy to be included, as she (or her social media manager) tweeted her support to the official Guardians of the Galaxy game account.

The Guardians account later revealed a few other bands and singers who will feature on the game’s soundtrack, as presumably Bad Reputation won’t be the only song that’ll play when players activate Star-Lord’s special ability. These major names include Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, and the star of the most popular meme ever created, Rick Astley. While all of these have many fantastic songs, it’s probably worth putting money down on Astley’s song being the Rick Roll classic ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.
We're gonna have '80s classics from Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley and more 🤘

Despite being only just announced, Square Enix has already revealed plenty of details about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. We know that it’s a single-player, open-world game and that it’s based on one of the most popular comic runs, but unfortunately, Star-Lord is the only playable character in the game — which is a shame, as the rumor is that Drax is an even bigger bad-ass than the MCU version.
