The new Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game has been revealed alongside a gameplay demo. The gameplay shows off Star-Lord gameplay with the player controlling him. However, he’s joined by other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. This begs the question: Is the Guardians of the Galaxy game multiplayer or single-player?
Is the Guardians of the Galaxy game multiplayer or single-player?
The Guardians of the Galaxy game is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer co-op.
Players take control of Star-Lord and control the other Guardians with quick actions. This means that players can control all members, issuing commands that synergize well together. It’s a single-player game, but there are multiple characters to influence.
Those expecting the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game to be multiplayer co-op like Marvel’s Avengers will be disappointed to learn that it is single-player only. It’s more like the Marvel’s Spider-Man game in that respect.
While it’s confirmed to be single-player at launch, it wouldn’t be unusual to see co-op elements added after launch. Most recently, Ghost of Tsushima added its Legends expansion which included co-op multiplayer. It was a surprise to be sure, but it happened. Perhaps there will be room for Guardians of the Galaxy co-op at some point, assuming the game is well-received and worthy of future development.
Expect to hear more about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as the release date gets closer. It’s available October 26, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. (There’s been no word on a PC version yet.)
