After a rough launch that led to Sony pulling the game from its storefronts with no return date in sight, Microsoft has semi-followed suit by now expanding how it handles Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One refunds. The “vast majority” were able to get refunds before and now the console maker has allowed anyone who bought the game digitally to get a refund.
Cyberpunk 2077: To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice. https://t.co/04TcniwVzy

The Xbox Support Twitter account tweeted this news out earlier today. In the short thread, the company acknowledged that CD Projekt Red “worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in extremely challenging circumstances” while not looking over those who have had problems with the inferior port. This offer will be available “until further notice.” For context, CDPR said it would have big patches out in January and February.
The game is still live on the Microsoft Store and Microsoft did not imply that it was coming down. It’s not clear if it will be taken down or if Sony will be the only platform to delist it.
How to get a Cyberpunk 2077 refund on Xbox One or Xbox Series X
Getting a refund for a digital copy of Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox should be a relatively smooth experience. Those who want their money back should go to Microsoft’s page for requesting a refund. First, sign into the Microsoft account in question, pick the game, and click “Request a Refund.” This should get the process started and, given Microsoft’s words on the matter, should all but guarantee a full $59.99 refund.

Retail refunds a bit more complicated for physical copies as that doesn’t go through Microsoft and should be done from the store itself. Some retailers like Best Buy are allowing players to return copies of the game, but that might not apply to every store. CDPR insisted that those who can’t get a refund from their physical store of choice can email the help account in the above tweet and even said it will pay out of its own pocket if necessary. This offer is valid until December 21.
