GTA 5 Epic Games Launch 500 Unexpected error

GTA 5 Epic Games launch is so popular it crashed the store

It looks like yesterday’s rumor about a GTA 5 Epic Games launch was true, and it’s made a bit of a splash when it went live. The Grand Theft Auto 5 Epic Games Store release was so popular, in fact, that it has completely crashed the website and made things a terrible, terrible mess.

“We are currently experiencing high traffic on the Epic Games Store,” stated a tweet from the store’s official account. “We are aware that users may be encountering slow loading times, 500 errors, or launcher crashing at this time and we are actively working to scale. We’ll provide an update as soon as we can.”

Indeed, trying to load the store’s website or the client simply shows the message “500 – An unexpected error has occurred” — and that’s if you’re fortunate enough to even see it in your own language. Several users have seen the store (or the error message) in another language entirely for some reason, myself included.

The reason behind these problems is plainly obvious: the GTA 5 Epic Games launch has been so popular that it’s absolutely overloaded the store. The situation is so bad that Epic Games hasn’t even made the announcement about the free game on its Twitter account despite it already being well past the 11:00 AM EDT time when they usually do so.

The launch of GTA 5 on the Epic Games Store was simply a rumor as of yesterday, but that all changed last night. Epic Games accidentally posted a video ad hyping up this new release, and a few people managed to capture it on camera.

Considering how great this game is, it’s understandable that the GTA 5 Epic Games launch has caused so much trouble. You aren’t able to get your hands on it just yet, but it should be available as soon as the problems with the store are resolved.
