Black Ops 4 Sales Dominate Japan for Second Consecutive Week

Black Ops 4 sales have been topping charts worldwide since launch, and it’s maintaining that incredible momentum in its second week of release. In Japan, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 continues its dominance in the software sales charts for the second consecutive week, despite facing competition from several new major releases like Souls Calibur 6 and Dark Souls Remastered for the Nintendo Switch.

According to the most recent Media Create Sales figures, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 managed to sell 95,572 units last week, with a total tally of 321,347 units sold in Japan so far. It’s even more impressive when you consider that these Black Ops 4 sales figures only take the PS4 version of the game into account. In fact, this is actually the franchise’s best debut in Japan in comparison to previous titles from the past few years.

Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Mario Party held onto second place with 36,381 units sold. Soul Calibur 6 had to settle for third place in its debut week, as it only sold 24,049 units. The Bandai Namco fighting game is followed by Dark Souls Remastered for the Nintendo Switch, which debuted with 14,646 units. Other new releases include Crystar and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Bonus Edition, debuting at fifth and eleventh place with 10,473 and 5,217 units, respectively.

The top ten of the software sales chart also includes Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, while Spider-Man PS4 has fallen to thirteenth place. It remains to be seen if Black Ops 4 sales will be able to continue its winning streak next week, with the highly-anticipated release of Red Dead Redemption 2 looming.

The Japanese hardware sales chart remains the same, with the Nintendo Switch outselling the PS4 at a ratio of three to one. Sony’s console seems to be losing steam in Japan, as the popular hybrid console looks poised to claim the throne. As per usual, the Xbox family of consoles stayed at the bottom of the hardware sales charts.
