The Sonic movie 2 trailer has finally been confirmed as debuting at The Game Awards 2021 tomorrow night and it won’t be the only Sonic the Hedgehog project there, as it’s also been revealed that the new Sonic game trailer will be there too — which will give fans their first proper look at the new 3D game reportedly called either Sonic Rangers or Sonic Frontiers, at last.
Sonic movie 2 trailer and Sonic Frontiers at Game Awards?
Both the first official Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie trailer and the new Sonic game have been confirmed as appearing at The Game Awards tomorrow night, which will also be introduced live by the movie’s stars Ben Schwartz (Sonic) and Jim Carrey (Dr. Robotnik). This announcement follows the reveal of the movie sequel’s first poster — which contains the more game-focused look for Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik alongside the iconic Tornado plane and Buzz Bomber enemy — and Colleen O’Shaughnessey returning as the voice of Tails, who’ll join Schwartz, Carrey, and Idris Elba as Knuckles.

It’s also been revealed today that the new 3D Sonic game may also get a proper reveal trailer at The Game Awards too. GameRevolution previously revealed that the new title may be Sonic Rangers but it now seems likely the title could be actually Sonic Frontiers — not just because SEGA trademarked it recently but a new website domain extension appeared this week using that title, as well as the Sonic Steam curator page’s “My Games” list being updated from 34 to 35 games in the franchise. Revealing Sonic Frontiers/Rangers alongside the new movie will certainly be a great way to end Sonic’s 30th anniversary year.
