Jurassic World Evolution Spinosaurus vs Stegosaurus

The Jurassic World Evolution Spinosaurus Will Soon Be Bigger Than The T-Rex

Jurassic World Evolution dropped in June alongside the new movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and was generally well-received, although there certainly were areas that could be improved upon. One of the biggest (pun intended) problems that fans had about the game were dinosaur sizes, and how the dinosaurs compared to either their real-life counterparts or their movie equivalents. Now at last developer Frontier Developments says that they are finally fixing this size issue.

There were two particular dinosaurs depicted in Jurassic World Evolution that drew fans’ ire. The Giganotosaurus, as his name suggests, is rather a large carnivore that in reality was around the same height as the Tyrannosaurus Rex. However, in the game it appears significantly smaller. Likewise the famous Spinosaurus, the huge star of Jurassic Park III that towered over the T-Rex, and is the only dinosaur in the series to take the Rex down, was also shorter than it in the game.

Frontier obviously made these changes in order for the franchise’s iconic T-Rex to be the most impressive carnivore of the lot, but both casual Jurassic Park movie fans and hardcore park management fans would rather have the game be accurate to the films. Previously Frontier told fans that they wouldn’t be able to change dinosaur sizes due to technical difficulties, such as clipping, but due to the community’s impassioned pleas they’ve decided to make the changes after all. Here are the dinosaurs that will be altered in the game’s next update:

  • Scale down the Ceratosaurus from 9.6m (current) to 9m
  • Scale down the Tyrannosaurus Rex from 14m (current) to 13.5m
  • Scale up the Spinosaurus from 13.7m (current) to 15m (making her taller but less bulky than the T-Rex)
  • Scale up the Giganotosaurus from 12m (current) to 13.5m

Aside from the patch, Frontier says they are also hard at work on the next content update for the game. At the moment the only DLC the game has received was a free batch of dinosaurs from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Hopefully the next DLC will include water or air-based dinosaurs, as the giant Mosasaurus and SeaWorld-esque area are sadly absent from the main game.
