Assassin’s Creed Odyssey release date was leaked before the Ubisoft event has even started. What’s more, information about the main characters leaked also, including their names and backstory. But what’s most exciting is that you’ll get the opportunity to choose who you can play. Kassandra or Alexios, who both have the same story no matter who you choose. At Ubisoft’s E3 2018 conference we got confimation of all this, though, and it’s official info now.
Both Kassandra and Alexios come from a Spartan background, however tragic struck them as young children and so, 17 years later they’ve trained themselves to be mercenaries on the island of Kefalonia. Yet their life is changed forever when a certain contract comes their way, opening up a world that sends them on their odyssey, and therefore your odyssey also.
Kassandra and Alexios are descendants of the first civilization bloodline, however, the developer video didn’t divulge into the two’s lineage further than that. But what they did mention was their fascination with what we know of the first civilization and how it intertwines with mythology. So the possibility of a minotaur may be higher than you think.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Will Present Day Scenes Return?
What was also revealed was the return of present day, with the player continuing Layla’s story as she searches for first civilization knowledge and artifacts. Score one for Layla fans.
The developers reiterated the ideology of the Templar Order versus the Assassins, such as the ideology of order vs free will and how both still remain to be grey, complex and very important part of the time that the developers are exploring in this Assassin’s Creed.
The naval system will be making a return, as it did back in Assassin’s Creed Origins. And as before, the naval system will be a seamless experience, allowing you to upgrade boats, recruit new people, ram into other ships as well as splinter them in two. Naval warfare will also get a lot more diverse, with certain ships having specific abilities that will make your experience unique each time.
We also learned that gear will be customizable, so if you want to go pink then there’s’ a good chance you can. But more importantly, your gear will upgrade right along with you, giving you more time to search around the map, which is confirmed to be the biggest map in the franchise, rather than look for millions upon millions of upgrades.
There will be a dialogue system that stresses the importance of choice, allowing you to pick whichever option you’d like that has clear consequences. However, history will pan out the way it is recorded in history, so don’t expect significant changes.
Are you excited as we are? Ubisoft has confirmed that the wait won’t be too long, as you’ll be able to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 5th, 2018.
