Pokemon Go Community Day

Niantic Announces Pokemon Go Community Day Event Featuring Surfing Pikachu

Niantic has announced a monthly global event that is coming called Pokemon Go Community Day. It is basically an attempt to create endless opportunities for players to come together in their local area and play the game. Each month, the event will rotate and focus on a different Pokemon for players to catch together.

The Pokemon Go Community Day event is meant to bring together trainers in every corner of the globe to make new friendships and “experience what it means to be a part of this special community”, according to the official press release. Not only does it bring together players, but it allows them to catch special Pokemon.

Every month, a new Pokemon will be featured for the Pokemon Go Community Day. Players will have a limited window of time to catch this Pokemon that will have an exclusive move. In addition, there will be bonuses granted to all players during the few hours that the Pokemon is available to be caught. This bonuses include increased XP or Stardust, and lure modules will last three hours during it.

Ho Oh Pokemon Go

This is a smart move on Niantic’s part, as the Pokemon Go Community Day creates a special limited event for players to look forward to each month regardless of where they live. The very first Community Day is just around the corner, too, arriving on January 20th, 2018.

What better way to kick off the Pokemon Go Community Day than to feature the beloved mascot Pikachu. A special Surfing Pikachu will be available during the limited duration of the event with an exclusive Surf move. During the event, players will earn double XP.
