The Pokemon Go Bug Out event will be making its return next week on August 10 and will mark the debut of three new Pokémon. Players also get the chance to challenge Mega Scizor in Mega Raids and make progress towards their Bug Catcher medal, and that’s before the possibility of Ultra Unlock bonuses from the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest event in Sapporo.
Pokemon Go Bug Out! event begins on August 10
The latest Pokemon Go Bug Out event will start at 10 AM local time on August 10, 2022, and will run until 8 PM local time on August 16. Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt will all make their game debuts. Grubbin will evolve into Charjabug for a cost of 25 Grubbin Candy, while Charjabug will evolve into Vikavolt for a cost of 100 Grubbin Candy, but only when near an active Magnetic Lure Module. At the same time, Mega Scizor will make his first appearance in Mega Raids, while Genesect (Chill Drive) debuts in five-star raids. Finally, lucky players may encounter Shiny Venipede in the game for the first time.
A Collection Challenge will task players with collecting Bug-type Pokémon. Those who are successful will earn the Bug Catcher Pose and 15,000 XP, although the pose will be available in the in-game shop after the event for those who can’t quite finish the challenge. Catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws will reward 2XP throughout the event. Teams of three or more Trainers who take part in an in-person Raid Battle will also find more of a certain wild Bug-type Pokémon for 15 minutes after the Raid has ended, with the Pokemon changing every day:
- August 10 – Wurmple
- August 11 – Caterpie
- August 12 – Spinarak
- August 13 – Venipede
- August 14 – Kricketot
- August 15 – Weedle
- August 16 – Ledyba
Before the event even happens, players have a chance to trigger Ultra Unlock bonuses by completing a global challenge event that will begin at 4 PM PT on August 4. Completing the Field Research will add an unspecified Ultra Unlock: Bug Out bonus throughout the entire event as well as a Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day on August 13. Niantic will reveal more details on these if the community is successful in completing the challenge.
