Call of Duty WW2 gets its first DLC at the end of the month, and with it is coming a new zombies map. When the Resistance DLC releases on January 30 (on PS4) players will get access to The Darkest Shore, which introduces another of Doktor Straub’s laboratories.
The new CoD WW2 Nazi Zombies map takes you to a secluded island, who only inhabitants seem to be Straub and his zombie army. In The Darkest Shore, you’ll run into new types of zombies which will be faster, smarter, and more aggressive than ever before.
In the latest trailer, you can also see the new fog effect that’s being put to good use as Marie, Drostan, Olivia, and Jefferson make their first approach on the island. When the zombies appear it definitely gave me some flashbacks to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when the Parasite Unit appeared in Afghanistan.
In addition to dealing with the zombies on the island, in The Darkest Shore map, you’ll have to contend with Nazi air and sea forces surrounding the island. You’ll likely have to head into the heart of the island to escape the Nazis and attempt to take down Staub once and for all. Ving Rhames, Elodie Yung, David Tennant, Udo Kier, and Katheryn Winnick return to lend their voices to the cast, and the trailer really makes me wish Activision would just make a full single-player campaign for Nazi Zombies.
Of course, the new CoD WW2 zombies map is included with the upcoming Resistance DLC, so you have two ways to get it. You can either purchase the $50 CoD WW2 season pass or buy Resistance separately. If you’re going to stick with CoD WW2 for a while, there’s some savings to be had with the season pass.
Those that own the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty WW2 can look forward to playing the Resistance DLC starting January 30. If you’re a PC or Xbox One player, you’ll have to wait a little longer as the DLC comes out on those platforms in early March.
