The Immortals of Aveum crystals can be puzzling since they seem like puzzles, but can’t be interacted with, at least for a big portion of the game. They also come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, as they come in green, blue, red, spiky, and blocky variants. Here’s how to activate the crystals in Immortals of Aveum.
What do the crystals do in Immortals of Aveum?
The crystals in Immortals of Aveum are linked to the Disrupt control spell that fires out a red laser. This can interrupt enemies as they are about to shoot and attack, but this is also necessary in puzzle solving. The game first gives you the ability to solve some laser puzzles with the Disrupt spell, but you can only interact with these crystals with the Refract augment.
This augment is given to players as part of the critical path on the mission called “The Binding Mark” just over the halfway point in the game. It’s where players have to find the shrineforge to learn more about the Binding Stone. This upgrade becomes available around halfway in that mission.
Once you get this ability, it’s now possible to go back into the overworld and complete the puzzles scattered around with the various sorts of crystals. You often have to find the right angle or use some other ability to find the right way to refract the light into the eyeball-like gems. They will glow white when the puzzle is solved.
