There have been rumors that Pokemon TCG Pocket bent packs give you better cards since the game was released. Some players swear that seeking out packs with bent or folded corners at the top has a higher chance of giving you rare cards. However, the truth will be disappointing for those who inspect each pack before choosing one to open.
How Pokemon TCG Pocket bent corner packs work
When you choose to open a pack of cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, you’re presented with a carousel to choose from. Most of the packs presented have a straight top, but some have curved or folded corners. Some players took this to mean that there’s a difference between them.
However, there’s no difference between choosing a pack with straight corners or one with bent corners. In fact, the whole pack selection screen doesn’t matter anyway. It’s just an illusion to make the player believe their choice matters.
The cards you’ll get are determined as soon as you choose to open a pack. What pack you pick does not affect the process.
So, why have the mechanic at all? It’s meant to replicate the feeling of choosing and opening a pack in real life. So, it’s just for fun.
The odds for what cards you receive are clearly displayed in-game and can’t be manipulated.
