Immortals of Aveum Open World: Is it an Open-World Game?

The Immortals of Aveum open world is full of ornate statues, unknown glyphs, and sticky piles of corruption. But its open spaces don’t automatically make it an open-world game. Here’s how the map is laid out in Immortals of Aveum and whether or not it qualifies as a traditional open world.

Is Immortals of Aveum open world?

Immortals of Aveum Open World: Is it an Open-World Game?

Immortals of Aveum is not an open-world game like Grand Theft Auto or, more fittingly, The Elder Scrolls. It’s not just one big map where players can roam around freely and go from mission to mission.

More Immortals of Aveum

Instead, Immortals of Aveum is full of interconnected hubs that are full of their own puzzles and combat challenges. Some of them connect by gates, while others connect through portals. Regardless of their connection, though, loading screens separate these areas.

As shown in the above picture that’s a portion of just one level, most of the maps are generously sized and fit the “wide linear” description. While there are a handful of tight stages, it’s not all hallways and corridors, so there is some freedom to explore and go off the beaten path.

The campaign will walk players through a decent chunk of every map, but there are plenty of reasons to revisit each area since there are multiple abilities that open up new routes and areas. For example, getting the Disrupt laser will open up a suite of new puzzles to solve, leading to more upgrades and potentially secret boss fights.
