Hawkeye Avengers Watch: Why do the Tracksuit Mafia want it?

The Hawkeye TV show is streaming now on Disney Plus and it has plenty of teases at what the bad guys are after. One such plot thread is a red and gold watch, recovered from Avengers compound and sold on the black market. It appears that several groups are vying for it, including the goofy Tracksuit Mafia and super-powered antihero Echo. Join us as we look at why these evil groups might want the Avengers watch in Hawkeye.

Why do the Tracksuit Mafia and Echo want the Hawkeye Avengers watch?

Hawkeye Avengers watch

After two episodes, we don’t know exactly why the Hawkeye Avengers watch is in such hot demand. From its physical appearance, it seems to be little more than a watch with high monetary value. However, the fact that this plot thread is left dangling, with the watch in unknown hands, means it’s sure to return in future episodes.

Yes, it first comes into play during a black-market auction. It was due to be listed alongside the Ronin armor, and his trademark sword. However, an interruption from the Tracksuit Mafia means the auction never takes place, and they procure the watch for themselves. As such, it seems like several parties are vying for the watch, so it must hold some value.

We don’t yet know what that value is, but the watch’s links to the Avengers compound no doubt play a role. The watch was recovered from the base, which was destroyed during Avengers: Endgame. Therefore, it could easily be an undiscovered piece of Stark tech, akin to the glasses in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The watch might contain nanotech or hidden abilities. This would explain why the Tracksuit Mafia, and their leader Echo, are after it.

Of course, it could also just be a MacGuffin, giving Hawkeye and Kate Bishop a reason to bump into these nefarious groups. While we don’t know for sure yet, you can imagine the Hawkeye Avengers watch will return in future episodes.
