Where Does She-Hulk Fit Into the MCU Timeline?

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series coming to Disney+, and many fans are wondering where it fits in the timeline. This long-running franchise has featured dozens of movies and shows over a large overarching timeline, and this upcoming legal comedy starring Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo is the newest MCU installment. This is where She-Hulk takes place in the MCU timeline.

Where does She-Hulk take place in the MCU timeline?

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law takes place shortly after the events of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Show creator and head writer Jessica Gao confirmed in an interview with TVLine that the show is set “not too far” after the 2021 superhero film. She stated, “It’s not, like, years later. It’s a relatively short amount of time.”

This is shown through an official promotional clip released by Marvel where we see Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. His appearance is similar to what we saw in the mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as he has found a way to exist in human form as opposed to Smart Hulk. Like in that scene, his arm is still in a sling caused by the events of Avengers: Endgame.

The upcoming series will also feature Benedict Wong as Wong and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination. These two shared a scene in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fighting each other at an underground fight club, and She-Hulk will directly reference the events of their scene. As Shang-Chi is set in March 2024, She-Hulk will likely be set later that same year.

2024 is also the year in which the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Hawkeye take place, so She-Hulk will be set against the backdrop of this time period. She-Hulk is the last MCU TV series set in Phase Four, and the first episode is set to premiere on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
