Is there a Ghostbusters Afterlife Sigourney Weaver cameo as a returning Dana Barrett? The latest Ghostbusters movie is finally out and it’s a proper continuation of the original movies, as last seen in 1989’s Ghostbusters 2 and in 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Videogame. There may be a Ghostbusters Afterlife Dana Barrett appearance as Weaver was even seen in the ending scene of the 2016 reboot. So is Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters Afterlife after all?
Spoilers for Ghostbusters Afterlife follow!
Is there a Ghostbusters Afterlife Sigourney Weaver cameo?
Yes, Sigourney Weaver is back in Ghostbusters Afterlife as Dana Barrett, although only in the mid-credits scene.
In the scene, Dana Barrett is talking with Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) in an apartment where they possibly live together, presuming they got back together again following the events of Ghostbusters 2. Dana is actually testing Peter using the same psychic electro-shock machine and patterned cards seen at the beginning of Ghostbusters 1984 — where Peter was the one doing the testing and was repeatedly shocking a poor student, even when he got the answers right. Venkman guesses all the symbols correctly, and Dana guesses correctly that he’d marked all the cards. She shocks him.
This is the second time that Sigourney Weaver has been in a Ghostbusters movie as merely a cameo in an ending scene. In Ghostbusters (2016), the female-led alternate reality reboot, she played Dr. Rebecca Gorin, the eccentric mentor to the equally eccentric Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon). Weaver did not return in the sort-of canon third story Ghostbusters: The Videogame, however, although she later regretted that fact as most of the original cast did — just like in Afterlife.
If Ghostbusters Afterlife wasn’t enough for fans, the Fortnite x Ghostbusters crossover recently started again, and the remastered version of the fantastic Ghostbusters: The Videogame is available now for anyone who wants to know what happened after Ghostbusters 2.
