It’s unsurprisingly that some Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are wondering how to use items on the new ACNH Happy Home Paradise island DLC. They’ve grown accustomed to pulling out an axe whenever they want, so it can be a surprise when items are suddenly greyed out and can’t be used. Thankfully, there are some items that can be used. Here is how to use items on the Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise island DLC.

Items can be used by pressing “X” to access the inventory. Any items that are not greyed out can be used on the Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise island DLC.

Unfortunately, as soon as players visit the Paradise Planning island and “go to work,” it becomes clear that many items can’t be used on the DLC island.

Clothing items can be used, however, so players can feel free to change their attire at any moment, provided they aren’t working!

Players can’t use shovels, axes, nets, or many other tools. This can be frustrating for those who want to bring out a net to catch one of the local blue birds or dig up some of the exotic plants.

It’s possible that the developers will eventually enable tool use but, for now, it’s not yet possible.
