For fans of the Halo franchise, there’s nothing as exciting as the upcoming release of Halo Infinite. Master Chief’s newest adventure is set to be a big one, and the game will undoubtedly take advantage of the powerful Series X hardware. Still, there are some who really just want to know if Halo Infinite will include a battle royale mode. As it turns out, the answer is a little complicated.
Will Halo Infinite have a battle royale mode?
The developers at 343 Industries repeatedly stated that Halo Infinite will not include a battle royale mode at launch. However, that’s not to say that Halo Infinite won’t ever have its own battle royale mode.
First things first: While 343 has likely considered an Infinite battle royale, no such mode will be available at launch. This has been the case since 2018, when developer Jeff Easterling said “the only BR we’re really interested in is the Battle Rifle.” That notion continued into late last year, when 343 Community Manager Brian Jarrard called rumors of a Halo battle royale “unfounded.”
Of course, the official statement is that Halo Infinite won’t have a battle royale at launch. That means the mode — or one comparable to it — could very well be introduced at some point after release. Unfortunately, the developers are keeping their lips shut until the game launches.
Thankfully, there is a silver lining here. Since Halo players are able to create their very own game modes through Forge, it’s very likely that a battle royale mode will be introduced by the community. It may not have the same polish as something developed by 343 first-hand, but technically speaking, all the tools required to create such a mode will be available to players.
So no, Halo Infinite will not have a battle royale mode at launch. But there’s nothing stopping players from creating their own, if they so choose. Otherwise, everyone is welcome to jump into the game’s free online multiplayer.
