Halo Infinite multiplayer

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is a big, free-to-play departure

Halo Infinite multiplayer has been revealed with a new gameplay trailer. The footage shows off a number of returning features, including fan-favorite weapons and game modes, but has new gameplay additions like the grapple hook. What’s more, Xbox and PC players will be able to enjoy the multiplayer at zero cost, with Halo Infinite MP confirmed to be free-to-play.

Halo Infinite multiplayer gameplay reveals new grapple hijack and more

Halo Infinite multiplayer

The Halo Infinite multiplayer gameplay trailer was cut together like an old-school montage, moving between clips of awesome plays with classic weapons, to explosive moments where vehicles were battling one another.

As a keen Halo multiplayer fan, the highlight of the trailer was the new grapple hijack, which appears to be a useful new way of dealing with pesky pilots flying around in Banshees and other aircraft. Though it will no doubt annoy those flying around the map, it will certainly give grounded players the upper hand.

The grapple is also seen being used to quickly pick up weapons from range. This will come in clutch for snatching a power weapon from an enemy, giving the grapple user the advantage.

Other gameplay changes were more subtle and there are many returning mechanics. It seems 343 has taken a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. The main change is the aforementioned grapple which players will need to learn to master.

Expect to hear more about Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer close to its holiday 2021 launch for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Until then, keep replaying the reveal trailer embedded below!
