Pokemon Sword and Shield Lucky Egg

Pokemon Sword and Shield Lucky Egg | How to get and boost EXP gain

Historically, one of the most arduous parts of any Pokemon game has been training up new catches to a point that they’re applicable to your current party. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, however, the developers at Game Freak have streamlined the process in order to encourage players to utilize a variety of Pokemon in battle rather than sticking to the same select few. One of the ways they’ve done so is by introducing the Pokemon Sword and Shield Lucky Egg, which is a held item that grants its holder greater EXP gain. Keep reading to learn how you can get your hands on it.

How to get the Lucky Egg in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Pokemon Sword and Shield Lucky Egg

The Lucky Egg can be gained in either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, so you don’t need to worry about it being a version exclusive.

Its in-game description reads as follows:

An item to be held by a Pokemon. It’s an egg filled with happiness that earns the holder extra EXP. points in battle.

Extra EXP gain is a real boon when it comes to evolving Pokemon to fill out your Pokedex, but also in quickly bringing them up to a viable competitive level that matches that of your main party. As such, you’ll definitely want a Lucky Egg for your item collection, meaning that first on the agenda is completing the main story of either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield.

After you’ve beaten Leon to become the Pokemon Champion, pay a visit to the chef at the seafood restaurant in Hulbury. He’ll give you a quest to help deliver food orders to paying customers, though, thankfully, you won’t have to go far. There are three deliveries to make, all of which are located within the small seaside town of Hulbury.

  • First delivery — Head for the house nearest to Hulbury Station
  • Second delivery — Pay a visit to the house just to the left of the seafood restaurant where you picked up the quest initially
  • Third delivery — Make your way to the Hulbury marketplace and speak to the owner of the green stall

After returning to the chef, he’ll reward your efforts with a Lucky Egg.
