Buy, Try, Or Die? [October 2013]

Are you done playing Grand Theft Auto V yet? Or have you been sucked into Grand Theft Auto Online? I tried to log into the latter, but I haven't been able to get past the required racing segment in the intro. Luckily for the games releasing this month, that means my hands are free. And just in time too, because there's way too much eye candy near the end of Octoboer. I'm already thinking about Black Friday…

Hopefully starting the month off on a good note, Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls (aka, Ellen Page: The Game) will be releasing within a week. I've heard mixed reactions from my fellow GameRevolutionaries during E3, but since I consciously put myself in the dark about it, I should be able to approach the title without expectations when I review it.

The middle of the month is populated by Skylanders SWAP Force, Pokemon X & Y, Just Dance 2014, and Lego Marvel Super Heroes, all appropriate for kids (and adult kids) and all ripe for pre-orders. That is, I suggest you have pre-orders ready so that your local store doesn't run out.

But once the children go to sleep, it's time for some mature games and that's what the following two weeks are all about: Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Batman: Arkham Origins. And if that much manpower isn't enough, there's WWE 2K14. Of course, if you can wait just a little longer, I suggest saving at least a portion of your paycheck for November for when the next-gen versions and the next-gen consoles arrive in full fanfare.
