Dying Light 2 release date

Dying Light 2 release date and supported platforms leaked ahead of reveal

Ahead of developer Techland’s big stream reveal, the Dying Light 2 release date has seemingly been leaked by an Italian website. The leaked advertisement includes the details on all the planned Dying Light 2 platforms planned, the age rating, and even a possible brand-new subtitle. The developer stream and official reveal are due for later on today, but it seems certain that a Dying Light 2 December release is confirmed.

What is the Dying Light 2 release date?

Dying Light 2 release date

The Dying Light 2 release date is planned for December 7, 2021, and the platforms are confirmed as PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

This is according to an Italian games website, Everyeye.it, that leaked the details, as it put the banner ad for the game up too soon — and of course, the entire internet noticed immediately. The official reveal of the release date will likely come later on today (20:00 BST/12:00 PDT) during the official Techland livestream the developer has going.

The banner ad also reveals the game’s 18 rating, but what’s possibly more curious is what seems to be a new subtitle for the game, transforming the title to Dying Light 2: Stay Human. It’s possible that this is simply a new tagline for the game, but its close proximity to the title suggests that it might be part of it. This will likely be confirmed either way in the livestream today too.

It’s certainly been a rough few years for Dying Light 2 since it was announced in 2018. The previous release window for the game was Spring 2020, which obviously came and went. While the December 7 release date tallies with what fans heard in the March update this year, it did little to assuage doubts about the game after reports of a poor work environment at Techland and the departure of writer Chris Avellone after a sexual misconduct investigation. Hopefully, all this won’t affect the game itself, but all eyes will be on Techland to turn people’s perception of Dying Light 2 around.
