Techland refutes tales of Dying Light 2 development issues and acquisition rumors

Techland has been relatively quiet about Dying Light 2 in the recent months… until now. The studio was pressured to speak up after allegations arose stating that the development was going poorly. According to Techland Senior PR Manager Ola Sondej, the zombie parkour title is “in good hands.” She also rebuked the rumor that Microsoft had acquired the Polish studio.

Sondej gave the following statement about Dying Light 2‘s development:

“At Techland we work as a team and we grow as a team. We are proud that many of our employees have chosen to be with us for years. The mentioned article contains various opinions – from both our employees, and anonymous sources. Each opinion matters to us, so we are now carefully analyzing all the topics raised. When it comes to Dying Light 2 – development is moving forward according to our internal schedule we revised at the beginning of the year.”

She also said more on her personal Twitter account, stating that Techland was still independent and that the translation on the original article alleging the game’s troubles was “very poor” and “totally inaccurate.” Sondej then finished by commented on the game’s state.

“While I have your attention, development of Dying Light 2 is moving forward, the game’s in good shape (and in good hands), so worry not. It IS coming,” she tweeted.

The internal schedule that was “revised at the beginning of the year” is likely referring to the delay, which likely made the turmoil easier to believe for some people. In January, Techland pushed the game out of spring 2020 because the team needed “more development time” to realize its vision. It doesn’t currently have a release date. Regardless, it is supposed to hit the PS5 and Xbox Series X sometime in the future as well as current platforms.
