The Bethesda E3 2019 conference is bound to be an exciting one as the publisher is set to show off some of 2019’s most anticipated releases and debut some new titles. Like previous years, Bethesda will be holding a traditional press conference in front of fans and press alike. Bethesda has wowed with Doom, Dishonored, Fallout 4, and other titles in past conferences and while this year’s show might be be as impressive, it still has a chance to be quite memorable.

Bethesda E3 2019 Conference Preview | Confirmed titles
Id Software surprised the gaming world when its reboot of Doom wound up being a 2016 Game of the Year contender. The famed studio will be looking to build upon the first-person shooter with Doom Eternal, which sees the demons from Hell invading Earth. While not a ton of gameplay has been shown off, we know that additional mobility options have been added and that it will feature asymmetric multiplayer as players can invade the campaigns of others and fight against them as demons (although this can be turned off). Expect to learn a lot more, which should include a release date, at E3 2019.
Another returning shooter series is Wolfenstein, which has been a critical success since MachineGames took control of the series. The latest entry, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, stars the two daughters of B.J. Blazkowicz and is set two decades after the events of The New Colossus as they travel to Paris, France, and look for their father. Interestingly, the shooter is being co-developed by Arkane Studios, which is best known for the Dishonored series. Expect to see how this change in development structure will impact the spin-off, which will also feature cooperative multiplayer. It’s releasing soon after E3 on July 26, so Bethesda probably won’t be holding anything back.
While we won’t be seeing The Elder Scrolls 6, we will get to see The Elder Scrolls: Blades. The free-to-play action RPG is currently in early access on both Android and iOS, and Bethesda has teased bringing it to consoles in the future as well. It’s supposed to be fully released this year, so expect the company to give the linear RPG a major push. Expect the publisher to detail its three main modes (Town, Abyss, and Arena), including the roguelike option Abyss, which has the player trying to get through an endless dungeon.

Bethesda has two online service titles currently and we’ll surely see some future plans and support for them during their E3 2019 conference. First up is its massively multiplayer online title The Elder Scrolls Online. It has found a nice niche since being released in 2014 and becoming buy-to-play rather than being subscription-based. Expect to see some new DLC announced and a trailer reminding fans that the expansion Elsweyr came out on June 4. A new dungeon pack or small mission add-on would make a lot of sense for the show, but it’s probably too early for a full-blown expansion to be revealed right now.
Meanwhile, Bethesda will have to do a major rebranding for Fallout 76, which was one of 2018’s most disappointing releases. Some patches and content updates have made it better than its bug-riddled launch state, but it remains a game that is just not very appealing to most Fallout fans. Expect to see a major update detailed or some other way to get fans to try out the online action role-playing game. It might be too late to save, but Bethesda was able to save The Elder Scrolls Online after an equally disappointing launch, so it can be done.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends is another one of Bethesda’s service games. The free-to-play digital collectible card game has seen a number of updates since it originally released in 2017. Despite not reaching the heights of Hearthstone, it has found a sizable niche and just received its fourth expansion, Isle of Madness, earlier this year. Anticipate a new trailer showing off the game and potentially some new features as Bethesda attempts to get more Elder Scrolls fans to try out its card game. We might even see more cards announced as the previous expansion was focused more on story rather than cards, and they tend to alternate between the two types of add-ons.
Bethesda E3 2019 Conference Preview | What is rumored
Shinji Mikami recently revealed that he will be attending E3 2019, which has made fans excited about the possibility of a The Evil Within 3 reveal at Bethesda’s press conference. The time table would make a lot of sense as the 2017 sequel was much better received than its predecessor and Tango Gameworks has been hard at work in the past two years since it came out. A third title could end the survival horror trilogy and give us the closest experience to a proper Resident Evil 4 follow-up.
While the main Arkane branch in Lyon, France is busy working on Wolfenstein: Youngblood, its sister studio in Texas is wide open to announce something new. Arkane Austin previously put out Prey in 2017, and it was a slightly divisive but overall critical darling. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a new entry in the sci-fi first-person shooter series or for Arkane to go in a totally different direction and show off another new intellectual property. What isn’t likely is a new Dishonored game as Arkane has said that the stealth series is currently resting.
Sadly, we won’t be seeing updates on Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi role-playing game Starfield or The Elder Scrolls 6. Both highly anticipated RPGs aren’t releasing any time soon, and were seemingly announced early in development to appease fans asking about the future of the company. Executive producer and face of the company, Todd Howard told fans at PAX East this year that they wouldn’t appear at E3 and asked everyone to be patient in waiting for upcoming information.
There also has a chance to be yet another mobile game announcement. Given how we got Fallout Shelter and Elder Scrolls Blades in past E3 conferences, Bethesda could be preparing to show yet another smaller interpretation of one of its big franchises. However, it’ll be interesting to see what series it picks if another new mobile game is indeed on the horizon.
While it’s not certain that all of these rumors will pan out, it looks like the Bethesda E3 2019 conference will be well worth your time. GameRevolution will have live coverage of this and every other press conference during E3 2019.
