We gave Mario Kart 8 a rave review earlier this summer when the game landed on Wii U and now an inventive hacker has discovered the potential for brand new race tracks delivered to the game via downloadable content.
The icons you see above look a lot like the icons that represent the different cups available in Mario Kart 8. Right now, you can choose from new tracks and older, slightly redesigned throwback race tracks that include updates for the game's magnetic wheels while maintaining the general visual design and sound of older Mario Kart games.
These four new cups could potentially add up to a full 16 new race tracks availalbe via downloadable content. The icons seem to represent Egg Cup, Shine Sprite Cup, Boo Cup, and Blue Shell Cup.
We'll bring an update when Nintendo offers any official word on these potential DLC items. We'd guess that the package would cost between $15 and $20 given that Mario Kart 8 comes with 32 courses to begin with.
